GGBFS

(Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag)

GGBFS (Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag) is a by-product of the steel industry. It is formed during the liquefaction of iron in the blast-furnace.It is a combination of calcium, aluminium and silicon oxides. GGBFS is typically used in the activation of granular pavement materials and used as a cementitious material in the manufacturing of concrete, particularly where resistance to aggressive ground water and aggressive environmental conditions are present. It is highly recommended for foundations, dams, precast elements, beams and slabs.

Benefits of GGBFS

Improves Work-ability

Finish ability & pump ability of concrete during placement

Improve compressive & flexural strength

Improve Permeability

Increase Resistance to chloride intrusion & corrosion Increase sulphate resistance

Increased alkali silica reaction resistance

GGBFS conforms to the mandatory requirements of the relevant standards:
• ASTM C989    • BSEN 15167-1
